ProForm Treadmills

ProForm has one of the widest range of home treadmills. However, the Company has been receiving a slew of negative feedback recently. As many of ProForm’s treadmills are priced at very low prices, many customers decided to give them a try. However, they soon find that the machines have been poorly constructed. In other words, it’s a quality issue.

Customers have been experiencing issues with console buttons failure, noisy motors, weak frame construction, and unstable belt (belt moves left and right while running). A few unfortunate customers started facing such issues after just 2 weeks.

When customers face issues, the first thing they do is to call up tech support. Unfortunately, ProForm support is almost non-existent. Customers have complained that they haven’t been able to get anyone on the phone or through email. When they do finally get to speak with someone on the phone, the troubleshooting process is a painful one. It usually ends up having the company send the parts to the customer and asking the customer to replace the parts themselves. This is unacceptable as most home users do not know how to detach or install electrical or mechanical parts.

Even though the specs of the machines look good on paper, you may wish to cosider a more reliable brand.

Here is a review on one of its products:

ProForm 675 Crosstrainer Treadmill

This machine has a 1.3 CHP Mach drive motor. It has a speed range of 0 to 10 miles per hour, with 10% incline.

The running surface is a Nonslip 17-by-50-inch tread belt with ProTech II impact absorption system. And it can support up to 275 pounds.

There is an interactive audio cross trainer that automatically adjusts the speed and incline during your workout. The audio will also prompt your to lift weights. There are two personal trainer programs included.

You can fold up this unit for easy storage.

The warranty for the motor is 10 years and 90 days for parts.

Price of this unit is $619.

Conclusion

On paper, there is nothing wrong with this unit. Take a closer look at the warranty. The warranty is 10 years for the motor, and only 90 days for parts.

The problem is if there is something wrong with the motor, the customer is asked to replace the motor  on their own.

Another problem that customer face is that the console tends to fail. Usually, customers face few problems with consoles. But when the console fails, the user cannot change the speed and program settings. Unfortunately, warranty for parts is only 90 days. That means if your console fails after 3 months, you are out of luck. For over $600, you would expect a longer warranty duration. At least the machine should last you for a year or two!

Your time should be spent on improving your fitness, not on the phone with tech support. So make sure you complete your due diligence before parting with your money on a ProForm treadmill.
