Motor.
This powerful machine has a powerful motor with 3.0 hp. Most home treadmills within a similar price range offers only up to 2.5 hp. With such a powerful motor, the machine supports up to 12 speeds (1 to 12 mph, at .1 increments). You can also adjust the incline from 1% to 15% for increased intensity. At 15%, if you can maintain 2 mins at 12 mph, you are considered super fit! Most models offer just 10 mph at 10% incline.
Running deck.
The running deck is spacious, and can accommodate tall or fast runners. It has a surface of 20 by 60 inches. This is beyond what other treadmills offer (20 x 55). The treadmill belt can be easily replaced. Belts can be purchased via popular online stores for about $100. This machine also comes with cushioning to reduce stress on the joints while running. The belt provides extra thick orthopedic cushioning.
Warranty.
It’s no surprise that Nordictrack offers lifetime warranty on both motor and frame. Many other brands offer lifetime on just the frame alone. The motor comes with just 1 to 2 years warranty.
Console.
The console has a green LED screen that makes it look like a mini computer. Don’t worry. The functions are easy to use though. The padded buttons are big and easy to press. On the console, you can see all the important information. The console will show you your speed, distance ran, heart rate, calories burned, as well as percentage of MHR. That way, you can make sure that you are in the “fat burning” zone while running. Try to stay above 60% MHR to continue burning fat efficiently.
Price.
For all the above features, the NordicTrack 9600 treadmill will cost you between $1,000 to $1,500, depending on where you buy it from. Even at the price of $1,500, consider it a steal! You get a commercial performance machine at the price of a home treadmill.
